About our Speakers:

     John Bailey, Vice President of Policy, Foundation for Excellence in Education
John Bailey serves as the Vice President of Policy at the Foundation for Excellence in Education, a state-based education advocacy organization. His experience includes senior positions in the private sector, White House, and U.S. Department of Commerce. He served as the nation’s second Director of Educational Technology at the U.S. Department of Education. He co-founded Whiteboard Advisors, where he helped government officials, policy influencers, investors, and technology leaders understand and navigate complex regulatory issues and adopt innovation-friendly policies. He also served as a senior program officer at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. He is currently on the Board of Directors for the Data Quality Campaign and previously served on the regional board for the social innovation fund Indego Africa. He is an alumnus of the American Council on Germany Young Leaders Program and in 2014 was selected to participate as a Pahara-Aspen Fellow.

       Molly Hoehn, Education Consultant, Fuel Education
Over the course of her career, Molly has held a variety of roles that have allowed her to shape education. She has been a classroom high school teacher, online instructor, AP coordinator, district level curriculum specialist, online content developer, and an educational consultant in the digital space. Most recently, she has enjoyed the privilege of helping individual schools and districts shape policy and implement blended and online programs. Molly holds both a graduate and bachelor degree in Literature and additional ESOL certifications.

Gordon Gower, Educational Technology Consultant, Backbone Communications
Gordon Gower has worked in education since receiving his bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Arizona in 2001. Gordon earned his middle school endorsement from the University of Phoenix in 2004. A veteran Title I schoolteacher, he spent most of the last ten years working as a 6th and 7th grade language arts teacher.

LaRae Kendrick, M.Ed., Educational Technology Consultant, Backbone Communications
LaRae Kendrick, M. Ed., is a native of San Jose, CA now living in Gilbert, AZ. She earned her master’s in Education Administration at ASU and holds an Arizona Principal’s and Teaching Certificate. She is an experienced educator specializing in Language Arts instruction and integrating technology into the classroom. As the former Director of Curriculum Development for A+ Educators, she oversaw the design of interactive whiteboard lessons for Digital Nation. LaRae has presented countless workshops nationwide on a variety of topics such as the Common Core State Standards, the Six Traits of Writing, interactive whiteboard strategies, the A+nyWhere Learning System, the Writing and Technology Connection, and iPad integration.

Linda Gibson, Lead Instructor for PCS Online and Payson Center for Success
Ms. Gibson will discuss experiences and best practices with Payson Center for Success' Enhanced Virtual Blended Learning Model. Students have required face-to-face learning sessions with their teacher of record and then are free to complete their remaining coursework remote from the face-to-face teacher. Online learning is the backbone of student learning when the students are located remotely.

David Knoche, Principal, Springs Studio for Academic Excellence, Colorado Springs, CO
Mr. Knoche is currently the Principal of Springs Studio For Academic Excellence in Colorado Springs, CO. He has lead the innovative transformation of his school from a full virtual school to a blended academy which is the only school to receive a Performance accreditation rating from the State of Colorado with out becoming an alternative education campus. He was the recipient of the D49 Administrator of the Year award in 2012 . Dave is a strong believer in the enormous benefits of flexible, relevant and individualized educational models that meet the needs of non-traditional learners. His passions center around the blended school environment and being an ambassador for blended learning models.
