About our Speakers:

John Watson, CEO & Founder, Evergreen Education Group John is founder and CEO of the Evergreen Education Group, which has been tracking K-12 online and blended learning for 15 years, via its annual report Keeping Pace with K-12 Digital Learning, and other research with school districts, charter schools, state agencies, non-profit organizations, and digital learning companies. Evergreen researchers have been cited in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Education Week, and many other media outlets, and have been invited to advise state legislators, boards of education, and commissions in Maine, Idaho, Iowa, Missouri, and elsewhere. John holds a BS in biology from Middlebury College, and an MBA and MS in environmental policy from the University of Michigan.

Jessica Venezia, Co-Founder & CEO, Method Schools Jessica has a track record of building schools that are forward-thinking, high-performing, and often unconventional. She is particularly experienced at building online and blended learning charter schools, and has a passion for improving K-12 education through new and innovative models and concepts. Jessica holds a BA in English, an MA in Educational Leadership, and is a PhD candidate from New Mexico State University.

Bill Bertrand, Education Consultant and Blended Learning Specialist Bill is the former deputy superintendent of alternative education for the Chaffey Joint Union High School District in Southern California. Over the course of five years there, he developed and implemented one of the most successful district-wide blended learning models in California. That initiative involved founding the Chaffey Online Learning Academy (COLA), which served diverse student groups who typically perform better outside of traditional classrooms. These groups included independent studies, special education, alternative education, and expelled or suspended students. The programs led to dramatically improved attendance and graduation rates across the district. Bill is widely respected in California for his passion, experience, and expertise in online and blended learning.

Ryan Mulvanny, Director of Instructional Technology, Lake Elsinore Unified School District Ryan Mulvanny is the Director of Instructional Technology in Lake Elsinore Unified School District. In this role, he coordinates blended learning (and its planned growth) for the district's High Schools, principals the Independent Study school, and coordinates professional development involving technology. Previously, he was the Instructional Technologist/Principal of Southern California Online Academy for five years

Bobby Offterdinger, Education Consultant, Fuel Education Bobby has worked as an educator in public schools for his entire career. From the classroom to a Technology Integration Specialist, focusing on facilitating blended learning spaces in K-5 classrooms, Bobby has developed meaningful professional development for school stakeholders, and helped create teacher leaders as part of an embedded coaching model. Bobby has extensive experience working with teachers to use blended learning to customize their instruction to meet student needs. His specialties include K-12 Literacy, Blended Learning, Technology Integration and Professional Development.

Renae Abboud, Education Consultant, Fuel Education Renae offers more than 10 years of experience between teaching in the classroom, developing curriculum, and customizing blended learning programs for schools and school districts. Renae consults and partners with district leaders on strategically designing school and classroom models, driving program effectiveness, and helping to improve the validity and efficacy of programs. Renae facilitates and presents at various blended and online learning workshop programs and has been a speaker at many education conferences. She believes in providing ongoing support in partnership with schools and districts to ensure effective strategies and success.
